Been taking my son to the bus stop in the truck, it’s about 1200' of very quiet, dead-end road. In other words, 15 minutes to walk with a 5- and 7-year-old, but 3 minutes in the truck. I let them sit in the back on camp chairs with the dogs, they absolutely love it. We stop and pick up a neighbor on the way. Good times.

Your truck almost always makes me think of the drunk mailman from Funny Farm , which is the 2nd greatest rural New England movie ever made. After What About Bob , of course.

hahaha, on my notifications I only saw the first line. But I figured you’d say ‘longer’ for sure.

Definitely in the spring on a warm, sunny day, we’ve killed probably 90 minutes walking up the road looking at... everything. Streams, leaves, cracks, snowbanks, birds, sticks, you name it.

So yeah, “get in the truck, kids!” To the bus.

What About Bob was supposed to be on Lake Winnipesaukee, not far from me. But I guess very little of it was filmed there. On the other hand, On Golden Pond was filmed mostly on my lake (Squam), but was supposed to be set on a (fictional) pond in ... Maine I think. Squam was just much more accessible to Boston.

Funny Farm is excellent, though I probably haven’t seen it in 20+ years.

Great pics! Cute dog!!

I should really use a better camera and get some good dogs-in-trucks shots.

This reminds me of a canoe trip I took with my father’s hand-built cedar strip canoe. It’s beautiful, functional, and light. I was with a friend, and with a dog, too, and the contest was “who gets more comments, the canoe or the dog?” Clearly, the dog won, but it was closer than you’d think, in an area where everyone has dogs, but very few people have a hand-built wooden canoe.

That’s how filming usually works — Last of the Mohicans in upstate NY? Nope, Lake Lure, NC :)

I finally dusted off Funny Farm about 10 years ago and it still holds up pretty well. I think Chevy Chase is pretty overrated most of the time, but it was a good one.

True, I mean, moon landing? How about a studio in LA, amirite?
